Bovine Mastitis Pre-Pilot Report
Dairy Experts LLC, under the direction of Dr. Alfonso Lago, conducted several pre-pilot experiments in late November and mid-December 2017 to pre-test sample administration, dosage levels and staphylococcus inoculation methods to induce bovine mastitis. Although time-consuming and costly, these pre-pilots serve to focus the final phase of the study and better document all the possible variables that must be considered when conducting this type of research. In a late-November 2017 pre-pilot test, the Company was advised by Dr. Lago that samples of ZIVO natural bioactive compounds were not properly refined. The decision was made to instead test synthetic equivalents, which have the potential of shortening the drug development process, while new natural bioactive samples were being prepared.
The clinical portion of the inoculation methods, synthetic and natural bioactive pre-pilots were concluded by mid-December. Tissue samples were then tested for gene signaling. Histopathology was also performed on all such samples and the results were made available to the Company in mid-March 2018. After an internal review, the early reports indicate a positive trend for one of the synthetic candidates. Natural bioactive samples were tested in healthy dairy cows with no mastitis to determine pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory thresholds in the absence of a pathogen. Both are necessary steps in preparation for the primary test involving relatively large numbers of animals.
